Who we are

About us

NextGen provides an opportunity for both lay church-goers and future pastors to be trained. Our courses are modular and run concurrently at several locations across South Africa.

Church based

We believe in the benefits of in-person training and mentorship and place value on relationships.

Bible centered

We provide a solid foundation of theological training from the Old and New Testaments with a biblical Worldview.

Welcome to NextGen

Theological Training for South Africa

Our vision is to equip local churches with the ability to train their members. We provide the tools needed for local pastors to equip people for future ministry in the church.

January - March

Biblical Worldview

This biblical worldview course gives the metanarrative of the Bible, the over-arching story of the creation and fall, the steadily unfolding plan of God’s redemption for the world, and its culmination in the reign of God over a restored heaven and earth. It answers core philosophical questions about the nature of reality, truth, history, and morality, and answers the resulting practical questions about the meaning, value, and purpose of life, and the need, method, and means of our redemption from a biblical perspective.

March - May

Exploring the Old Testament

Jesus claimed five times that He was the theme of the Old Testament Scriptures (Matt. 5:17, Luke 24:27, Luke 24:44, John 5:39, and Hebrews 10:7). Because the Old Testament builds God’s plan of a coming Messiah, and Jesus is that Messiah, it is all about Him. You can find pictures, prophecies, and a growing need for Christ in every book of the Old Testament, and there are dozens of “types” (metaphors and analogies) of Christ in the Old Testament.

June to July

Exploring the New Testament

The New Testament is divided into five sections: the historical accounts of Jesus’ ministry, death, and resurrection known as the Gospels, the early church history book of Acts, the 13 letters of Paul, the letters of other Apostles, and lastly the prophetic book of Revelation. The books were written in the common Greek language of that era from approximately 45 AD to about 95 AD. These 27 books tell us of Jesus' death on the cross on our behalf, and what our response should be to His death. The New Testament focuses on giving solid Christian teaching along with the practical results that should follow that teaching.

August - October

Christian Foundations

This module is both a basic systematic theology and a primer on the Christian life. Note the words “basic” and “primer” – this is a first glance at ideas that are just the ground floor of a major body of books, blogs, webs-based videos, and discussions about the Christian life. For some this will be a review, but perhaps the overview will give you fresh insights that you can pass along to other believers to help them in their Christian walk. Though this module is “Christian Living 101,” its purpose is nonetheless to bring about life-change toward Christlikeness in your thinking and your actions.

October - November

Bible Study Methods

An entry-level look at the various approaches to the biblical text, an examination of the literal, grammatical, historical, contexual method, and plenty of pracice in exegesis.
